Dr. Griffin, often referred to as The Invisible Man, is a fictional scientist featured in numerous movies and television adaptations of H.G. Wells's novel. A brilliant but ethically questionable chemist, Griffin dedicates himself to achieving invisibility, driven by scientific curiosity and ambition. He experiments on himself, successfully rendering his body invisible.

However, the process has devastating side effects. The invisibility drives him mad, causing a descent into paranoia and violence. He becomes increasingly erratic and megalomaniacal, believing himself to be superior and deserving of power. He uses his invisibility to terrorize the countryside and commit crimes, planning to establish a "reign of terror."

Different adaptations portray Griffin with varying degrees of sympathy. Some focus on the tragic consequences of his scientific hubris, while others emphasize his villainy. Regardless, the character serves as a cautionary tale about the dangers of unchecked ambition and the ethical responsibilities of scientific advancement.
